Stationery Lead Acid Battery
#During power outages (POWER CUTS), Lead Acid Batteries are economical power source.
Now are trying to compile the information about power source which one should know while using the appliances and hence not mentioning much of technical but in a user friendly way.
#Lead Acid Batteries are used on a very Large scale throughout
the world. They act as an ENERGY source for equipment and appliances used for
HOUSEHOLDS, COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL facilities. Lead Acid Batteries are
applied in all modes of transportation like CARS, TRUCKS, BOATS, TRAINS etc....
and during power outages (POWER CUTS), Lead Acid Batteries are economical power
source for all the critical operations such as ELECTRICAL POWER SUB-STATIONS,
HOSPITALS, OFFICES, RAILWAYS, SUBMARINES
as well as MOTIVE POWER SOURCE for INDUSTRIAL usages for handling of the goods.
ALL AUTOMOTIVE as well as 95% of #INDUSTRIAL applications POWER requirement is addressed by #LEAD ACID
BATTERIES.
With relate to the maintenance there are two types; which are as
FLOODED / WET and VRLA ( VALVE REGULATED
LEAD ACID ) Batteries. Flooded / wet batteries
require topping up of electrolyte by DM water, upright orientation to prevent electrolyte
leakage and ventilated environment to spread the gases generated while charging
of Batteries. These are the design constrains of FLOODED batteries over VRLA. As well as VRLA Batteries have a smaller design life compared to TUBULAR Battery.
#Tubular Positive Plate battery:
#Comparative information of TUBULAR positive Plate flooded batteries over Flat pasted flooded Batteries#
The Battery world favors TUBULAR
POSITIVE PLATE DESIGN for FLOODED , GEL & even AGM application.

#Stationery
Lead Acid Battery –
Name itself says its stationery; means not moving , kept at one place and are used for deep cycle since the Batteries are often discharged at a low rate over the time of multiple hours.

There are two types of plate designs which are used for Positive plates where as Negative plates are same pasted plates only.
·
Flat Pasted Positive Plate Battery:
As mentioned are
FLAT – pasted plates made
by Pasting the LEAD OXIDE active material on the MESH GRID.
This battery is made
of a frame structure consisting of a series of vertical #SPINS connected to a common bus bar, which is a #GRID. The active material is
mechanically pressed onto the grid which is held in micro-porous,
non-conductive tubes (GANTLETS). These tubes are placed over the individual
SPINS of the GRID. Now assembly of the LEAD SPINES ,PUBES,LEAD OXIDE and BOTTOM BAR together is call TUBULAR POSITIVE PLATE. (Lead Acid Battery has Positive electrode which is LEAD- PER- OXIDE, Negative electrode is SPONGY LEAD & Electrolyte consists of a solution
of SULFURIC ACID and demineralised water.)
#Comparative information of TUBULAR positive Plate flooded batteries over Flat pasted flooded Batteries#
- The cost of ownership of TUBULAR POSITIVE PLATE BATTERY is 25~30% LOWER than FLAT PASTED PLATE BATTERY.
- Service life is more as good as twice for Tubular Batteries.
- Both the type of Batteries require periodical maintenance.
- Tubular batteries if discharged at 50% of depth of discharge can perform very good for renewable and stationery application.
- Whenever a Surge Current is required, in such cases Flat Plate Batteries are recommended, like LIFT BACKUP etc... And for constant current requirement Tubular Batteries are recommended.
- In today’s world, where ONE TIME COST matters the MOST, people SUGGEST flat plate batteries during power outages along with INVERTER and is usually termed as INVERTER BATTERY to get the POWER ( electricity) to run day to day domestic electrical appliances.
NOTE:
Never use
OLD and NEW Batteries together in series and/or Parallel connection; NEITHER
different capacity batteries NOR different Brands batteries should be connected
in same battery bank. This will reduce the life of smaller / weaker battery.
#Conclusion-
Critical commercial / Industrial application
where a long service life is required and from among the technology available
with LEAD ACID BATTERY, #TUBULAR #Battery is the #BEST VALUE preposition.
Tubular batteries have around 20% more
electrical capacity than Flat plate batteries of same size and weight. Plate
shedding is very LESS with
Tubular batteries as compared to Flat plate Batteries and hence
provided 30 % to 50% more life.

a demand by some of our readers. Stay tuned for the next POSTS which will be
